Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 16:24 I’m running a ringtone workshop at the A to Z Festival 2008 in Buxton tomorrow using Apple GarageBand. I’ve made a simple introductory tutorial
and a few quicktime movies.
You can also find some great intro video tutorials over at the Apple site -Apple GarageBand Tutorials
Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 17:16 Whilst looking material on idea development I came across a link that lead to a micro site on Frida Kahlo on SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art). I thought there were some wonderful insights into her portriat work that sheds light on her artistic development and self-investigation.
Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:22 The e-portfolios infoKit and The Effective Practice in e-Portfolios launched at ALT-C. You can access the infoKit from JISC infoNet home page. Here are some details about the two new JISC resources on e-portfolios launched at ALT-C in Leeds.
The first is a new guide in the JISC Effective Practice series, Effective Practice with e-Portfolios, which explores examples of effective practice in the use of e-portfolios throughout a lifetime of learning. The guide complements a new infoKit on e-portfolios from JISC infoNet which offers a comprehensive synopsis of the main drivers, purposes, processes, perspectives and issues around e-portfolio use.
View the infoKit can be viewed at . Alternative formats of the guide are available from JISC
Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:02 It’s been so long since my last entry but feels good to be back. Now the next academic year is upon us I will be providing more resources and information for various courses over the months ahead. At the moment I’m still drowning in the writing of assignments, schemes of work and tutorials for the first semester. Why isn’t there a nation database for these materials?
I’ve also been busy setting up other websites & blogs. The first of these was a photography website & it’s Wordpress journal. Over the last week I’ve also been playing with another photography blog for my more personal work. This can be found at Muootology.
Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 12:50 Photo shoot with Oli and his new guitar. Reminded me of the music practice I had to do when I used to play the trumpet. At least I can still remember to read music but the trumpet doesn’t sound so hot these days. For this session I used a Lastolite EzyBox Hotshoe. I really like the quality of these products and might invest in a 60x60 as an addition to my little 38x38 cm one. After the shoot I imported into Aperture then edited in Photoshop with a final PhotoTools filter.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 13:33 In addition to this I found and installed the following fix. This script patches the offending scripts, allowing republished sites to render properly in Firefox 3. All credit should go to Daniel Furrer and Daryl Grunau, who posted the original patched Javascript files.
Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 20:20 I have just finished to initial design for my ‘Muoo Photography’ site. I decided to try using iWeb on the Mac to see if it’s possible to design a web site with this Mac application.
Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 13:01 I walked into my wife’s graphic design class yesterday and noticed that what had started as a single pebble have spawned an entire community. I took a couple of pictures and you can see from the image below they are rather attractive.
One of the students was asking how you add a halftone effect around text in illustrator without having to resort to rasterizing the image. Does anyone know?
I did find some tutorials at illustrator class that use this effect but not with illustrator.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 14:53 I’ve made a few video tutorials to provide a quick overview of placing images in illustrator and tracing them. These tutorials focus on the DIDA assignment for the Edexcel Level 3 Graphics unit. If you want to download these resources please visit the resource section.
Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 12:38 Before starting the project we need to develop ideas for our characters & investigate various ways of creating the characters. Wikipedia have a section on paper models that links to creating characters using illustrator.
I also discovered several resources and examples.
Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 12:13 A couple of weeks ago we designed our own fake cigarette packets based on the template from the 'Build your own death" project. Here's an image of some of the designs from the session.

In tomorrows session we will use illustrator to practice creating the outlines for our characters. An example paper toy can be downloaded from Non Dairy Dairy.
